I went home yesterday and looked at all my Marvel Omnibus volumes (no other hardcovers, just Omnibuses), and found that, sure enough, the outer spine is detached from the inner spine on nearly every single one.

Now I'm thinking I just never noticed before because Marvel apparently used to use a thicker cardboard for the outer covers, which made the separation much less apparent.

At any rate, thank you for setting me straight! I'm going to amend the above post.Matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14580725636327122073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7105844689832543332.post-51827487072402159712014-08-19T08:48:05.867-07:002014-08-19T08:48:05.867-07:00Interesting; thank you for the explanation. I'm going to take a look at the others in my collection when I have a chance this evening. I've probably just been unperceptive this entire time!Matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14580725636327122073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7105844689832543332.post-82899671572296376592014-08-19T07:49:01.485-07:002014-08-19T07:49:01.485-07:00cover spine is NOT supposed to be attached to inne...cover spine is NOT supposed to be attached to inner spine - that is the whole point of sewn binding....having flexibility to open wide the book at any page without breaking the outer spine. That is by no means any defect! every omnibus is made this wayAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
