Regarded as one of the premiere classic Marvel Comics runs of the 1980s, I didn't get to John Byrne's FANTASTIC FOUR until somewhere around 2004 or so, and at the time I didn't wow me as much as I had expected. But in 2011 and 2013, Marvel released the full run in two big Omnibus volumes which I managed to acquire for a song. I then decided to give this stuff another chance and see if it impressed me a bit more than my first go-round with it.

What about FF #220/221? These were Byrne's first.
ReplyDeleteTrue, and he did do some other work on the FF prior to #232, but my focus above was on the "John Byrne run", which is generally considered to be 232 - 293.
DeleteAvengers #233 by Roger Stern/John Byrne/Joe Sinnott is a crossover with FF #256.
