I'M STILL ALIVE...

Well! Things have certainly dried up around here since a year ago, when I thought I'd be able to manage one post a month! I managed January, February, and March, skipped April, posted in May, skipped June, posted in July, and then vanished for the remainder of 2025. I can make no excuses, though I feel like one of those 90s comic artists you would read about in WIZARD, who constantly missed their deadlines because they were playing videogames or whatever. That's about where I am... as I said around this time last year, I still want to do this blog; I just have a hard time lately finding the motivation to do it. I haven't even mustered the effort to reply to some comments that have rolled in over the past half-year!

So at this point I don't know what to say. I don't think I'm officially retiring or throwing in the towel, but despite my own wished to the contrary, I am most likely on a long-term sabbatical. And who knows; maybe that sabbatical will turn out to be permanent? I can't say for certain. I wouldn't be surprised to see a new post pop up at some point around here, but by the same token, I also wouldn't be surprised if this is the last word at this site! I guess we'll all just have to wait and see what happens next...

  1. Aw, man. Another one (maybe?) bites the dust…I didn’t comment on here like I did on other sites, but I did read and enjoy your reviews on here. Sad to see this site possibly end. Not Blog X and others too have stopped…as it is, the only other sites I still follow are Gentlemen of Leisure and House to Astonish.

Man I miss the golden age of comic book blogging.

    1. Yoiks, it took me over a month just to reply to this!! I really appreciate your comment. I dunno, I'm really unwilling to say I've given up completely at this point, but if anything, I'm on a long sabbatical. Nonetheless, thank you for following over the years here!

    2. Not sure why that last comment cam through as Anonymous. It was me, obviously!

  2. I’ve kept quiet on this since it’s been clear that your lack of blogging hasn’t been due to a lack of ideas on what to cover. Right around when you were in the home stretch of Batman reviews, however, I reread John Byrne’s Namor — and had your next post not been “The End…” I would’ve lobbied for you to consider it because it ties nicely into a few of your previous series including The Invaders and Iron Fist along with being, you know, more John Byrne.

As it stands, I’ll just keep checking in and hopefully comment on whatever may appear in a more timely fashion; I know I had something to say about last year’s handful of posts when I read them but put off gathering my thoughts into the right words for too long.
